The Sphinx International Airport has launched a new service and initiative specifically for the deaf and mute community.
The service involves issuing an identification card bearing the “Service for Deaf & Mute” logo and a sign language symbol.
Passengers will wear this card to facilitate easy identification by airport staff, enabling them to receive the necessary support without direct intervention – ensuring a smooth and safe travel experience.
To effectively implement the service, a sign language-trained specialist has been assigned to the quarantine area. This specialist will be responsible for greeting passengers and providing them with the card upon their arrival, thereby enhancing communication with all entities within the airport.
This initiative is the first phase of a broader plan aimed at generalizing the service across various Egyptian airports, in line with the Ministry of Civil Aviation‘s strategy.
It also aligns with the Egyptian state’s efforts to promote the inclusion and empowerment for people with disabilities, enabling them to access services that meet their needs.
