Sherif Sedky, CEO of the Egyptian Space Agency, has announced details about the establishment of a joint-stock company for manufacturing satellite components, a company for marketing the agency’s products, and the launch of an electronic platform enabling users to browse and purchase satellite images.

Sedky stated that these achievements come within the framework of Egypt’s strategic goals to localize space technology, which is a key axis for achieving sustainable development in various vital sectors, according to the Middle East News Agency.

Sedky added that the procedures for establishing a joint-stock company for manufacturing satellite components are currently being completed, and are expected to be finalized in the near future, as part of the agency’s strategy to enhance Egypt’s capabilities in the field of manufacturing satellite components.

Sedky explained that the company aims to localize the technology of designing, developing, and manufacturing satellite components and subsystems within Egypt, which enhances the agency’s precision manufacturing capabilities. He clarified that this approach reflects the importance of achieving self-sufficiency in the field of space technology and contributes to supporting national security and sovereign technology.

Regarding the establishment of a company to market the products of the Egyptian Space Agency, Sedky affirmed that the establishment of this company represents a strategic step aimed at maximizing the economic value of the data and products provided by the Egyptian Space Agency, especially since the role of the company is fundamental in meeting the needs of the Egyptian market for high-quality satellite images at competitive prices, thus contributing to supporting the country’s development projects, such as urban planning and monitoring national and agricultural projects.

Sedky highlighted the company’s provision of foreign currency through offering competitive services compared to global markets, which enhances the national economy and supports sustainable development.

Regarding the Egyptian Space Agency’s launch of an electronic platform to enable users to browse and purchase satellite images, Sedky confirmed the readiness of this electronic platform, which was developed by the agency for immediate operation, as it was designed to facilitate users’ access to and purchase of satellite images easily. He explained that the platform will provide its services to many beneficiaries such as government institutions, private companies, and research institutions.

He added that this platform is a vital tool that supports urban planning, environmental monitoring, and disaster management, thanks to its high accuracy and easy accessibility, and that the competitive prices it offers make it a preferred choice for many entities seeking to obtain accurate satellite data to support their development projects.
