Al-Azhar University exams have resumed after being delayed due to clashes between security and Faculty of Agriculture students affiliated to the Muslim Brotherhood, security sources from Interior Ministry said on Saturday adding that the central security troops were deployed to control the situation.
Clashes took place earlier on Saturday between security and Brotherhood students at the university’s male dormitories in Nasr City.
The students hurled stones and fireworks on security personnel of the dormitories, while security fired teargas and sound bullets to disperse them.
Students also shouted slogans against police and military.
Security forces beefed up their presence around the university and dormitories in Nasr City to secure the area as exams took place.
Female students resumed their exams on Saturday, while the Brotherhood-affiliated students staged protest that marched across the campus amid tight security.
