Soliman dismissed from energy firm, quits parliament

In a parliamentary session Monday, Speaker of the House Fathi Sorour announced that former housing minister Ibrahim Soliman had been dismissed from his position as president of a public-sector oil services company, noting that MPs were forbidden by law to hold additional government posts.

As a result of the dismissal, Soliman will be expected to return all salaries he received–some LE50,000 a month–since his appointment to the position last July.

Sorour further announced that Soliman had resigned from parliament on 26 January and that his seat in the assembly was now vacant.
