While inaugurating several government projects in the southern city of Sohag, President Hosni Mubarak was invited by a local resident for tea at the latter's home.
“Sure, as long as it’s a strong one,” the president reportedly told the man.
The man’s young daughter later woke up to find her farther sipping tea with the president. She joined them excitedly, sitting on her father’s lap.
During his tour of the city, Mubarak inaugurated a sewage station in the Gerga district, which cost LE270 million. He also opened a new LE60-million cancer treatment center and handed out title deeds to subscribers of a local government housing project.
While in Sohag, the president also called for the establishment of new urban and industrial communities in the area, and for the creation of new employment opportunities. He also called for the completion of local potable-water projects.
Mubarak further called for local doctors to be trained on modern medical equipment in order to improve the health care services available to the public.
