Smuggling of antique manuscripts foiled

Port security services thwarted an attempt by a publishing house to smuggle antique manuscripts, dating back to the Coptic and Ottoman eras, out of Egypt.

The manuscripts, which were hidden among other books and research papers, were in the process of being smuggled to an Arab country through the Badr land port and the Damietta seaport.

The owner of the publishing house said she did not know they were antique manuscripts.
