The Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA) anticipates a slight drop in temperatures in most parts of the country which began on Friday will continue on Saturday and Sunday, with values ranging from two to three degrees Celsius.
During a phone interview with state TV’s Channel One on Friday, a member of EMA’s media center Manar Ghanem, said that temperatures in Greater Cairo are expected to range between 34-35C.
Ghanem explained that this decrease comes follows as the result of a depression in the upper layers of the atmosphere, which works to lower temperatures.
However, humidity levels will continue at the same high rates, exceeding 85 percent in coastal areas and 80 percent in Greater Cairo.
She said that despite the decrease in temperature, the weather will remain very hot and humid “but less severe than what we saw in recent days.”
“Enjoy the weather for the next 72 hours. Starting from Monday, and Tuesday, the weather conditions will witness a rise in temperatures beyond normal rates at this time of the year,” she added.
Expected temperatures on Saturday:
- Alexandria: 30C
- Cairo: 35C
- Sharm el-Sheikh: 39C
- Hurghada: 40C
- Luxor and Aswan: 44C
