Six injured in Fayoum clashes with Morsy supporters

Five protesters and one police officer were injured during clashes between security forces and supporters of ousted President Mohamed Morsy in Fayoum on Friday.

The police officer, Mohamed Abdallah Fahmy, was injured when a stone thrown at him hit him in the face.

Five protesters suffered mild suffocation by tear gas canisters that security forces used to disperse them, after they tried to besiege the Security Directorate building. They were all treated and later discharged from the Fayoum General Hospital.

A security source said 10 protesters were arrested for throwing stones and firing cartouches.

Some 2,500 supporters of Morsy had held a march after Friday prayers to demand his return to office.
