Sisi visits United Arab Emirates

President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi will travel on Thursday to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on an official, two-day visit.

The visit comes within the ongoing follow-up and coordination framework between the two countries.

Sisi is due to attend the celebrations of UAE national day.

Presidential spokesperson Alaa Youssef said the talks between Sisi and Emirati officials will focus on developing the bilateral ties in order to boost strategic cooperation between the two countries to confront the ongoing regional challenges.

UAE, among other Gulf countries supporting Egypt, has offered aid in the form of money and petroleum products since the ouster of former Islamist President Mohamed Morsi in July 2013.

Last August, UAE offered a six-year deposit of US$ one billion to the Central Bank of Egypt.

Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Mohamed bin Zayed al-Nahyan visited Egypt in November, when he discussed with Sisi boosting bilateral ties, as well as pertinent regional issues.
