Sisi to visit Saudi Arabia next week

President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi will pay an official visit to Saudi Arabia next week to meet with Saudi King Salman bin Abdel Aziz over bilateral relations and terrorist-related regional issues.

Informed sources told Al-Masry Al-Youm that Sisi’s visit to Saudi Arabia will focus on the joint Arab cooperation to face terrorism in light of threats to the region. They will also tackle Sisi’s recent proposal to form a joint Arab military unit.

The Egyptian-Saudi summit, according to the sources, will also tackle cooperation with Gulf countries, including the ongoing disputes between Cairo and Doha, in an attempt to revive the reconciliation efforts started by Saudi King Abdullah prior to his death. Since King Abdullah's passing, attempts to strengthen ties between the two countries have abruptly ended.

The meeting will also discuss the economic summit, scheduled to be held in Sharm el-Sheikh in March, as well as continued support from Saudi Arabia and the Gulf countries during such a critical phase for Egypt.
