President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi welcomed the project of navigational linking between Lake Victoria and the Mediterranean, stressing the necessity of taking essential measures to carry out the project once the studies are completed.
During talks with his Ugandan counterpart Yoweri Museveni on Sunday at the presidential palace in Entebbe, Sisi highlighted the importance of promoting bilateral cooperation in different fields, especially economy and trade. The two leaders discussed means of supporting the bilateral trade exchange, as well as establishing more joint projects in Egypt.
Sisi and Museveni confirmed their commitment to resume efforts to achieve stability and development in Africa, especially in the Nile Basin region, the Great Lakes region and the Horn of Africa.
According to experts in African issues, Sisi’s visit to Uganda comes to revive the Egyptian role in Nile Basin countries and boost Egyptian-African ties, especially with Uganda.
Sisi started a one-day official visit to Uganda on Sunday.
