Sisi travels to UAE to discuss security and economic cooperation

Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi will travel to the United Arab Emirates on Wednesday for a two-day visit, during which he will discuss Egyptian-UAE relations with the Crown Prince of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi Mohammed bin Zayed al-Nahyan, according to the Presidency’s Spokesperson Bassam Radi.

Radi said that the president’s visit illustrates the well-established relations between Egypt and the UAE and the strategic cooperation between the two countries across all fields.

He added that the trip signifies the eagerness of both nations to continue coordinating in addressing regional challenges and preserving security in the Middle East.

Radi added that Sisi and Nahyan will discuss cooperation on various issues impacting the Arab world, as well as the international and regional crises facing the two countries.

Egypt and the UAE enjoy a substantial economic and political relationship that developed after President Sisi gained power in 2013. The UAE has offered considerable financial support to Egypt.

According to the latest figures available, Egypt’s exports to the UAE rose during the first half of the 2017-2018 fiscal year, reaching US$1.204 billion. This marks a seven percent increase in Egypt’s exports to the UAE compared to the same period in 2016, when exports stood at US$1.126 billion.
