President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi is personally following the construction of the Grand Egyptian Museum, and constantly inquiring about its latest developments, Antiquities Minister Khaled al-Anani said.
In an interview with host Ahmed Moussa on the Sada al-Balad channel, Anani added that Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly and Presidential Aide for National and Strategic Projects Sherif Ismail are closely following up the museum’s latest development.
Anani stated that the Grand Egyptian Museum will be inaugurated in 2020, before the previously-announced official time of 2022.
He revealed that 10 museums have been newly inaugurated in the past two years, including the Minya’s Malawy Museum, which was raided by terrorists and burned, the Islamic Art Museum, which was destroyed by a car bomb on January 18, 2017, the Sohag Museum, and a museum in Marsa Matruh.
Tourism workers in the Giza Pyramids area will be organized, Anani said, pointing out that 1,500 people working there have been granted licenses so far.
