President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi directed to continue and intensify efforts in development projects, Presidential Spokesman Ahmed Fahmy said in a statement Saturday 9/11/2024.
Sisi was briefed on the progress of executive work in several development files as part of the state’s ongoing efforts, in cooperation with the private sector, to increase productivity, boost economic growth, and improve income levels, Fahmy added following the President’s meeting with Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Minister of Industry and Transport Kamel al-Wazir, Minister of Irrigation and Water Resources Hani Sewilam, Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation Alaa Farouk, Governor of New Valley (El Wadi El Gadeed) Governorate Mohamed Al-Zamalut, and Executive Director of the Future of Egypt Authority for Sustainable Development Baha el Ghannam.
The meeting covered development efforts in the New Valley as Sisi reviewed the government’s programs to improve services within the governorate, including healthcare projects, increasing remote treatment units in villages and remote areas, and the status of the Decent Life initiative’s projects.
Other projects discussed included the housing sector’s rural home projects, the expansion of service villages, land reclamation and cultivation projects, as well as efforts to establish several factories in partnership with the private sector and in coordination with the Ministry of Industry.
In addition, Sisi reviewed the developments of ongoing work to prepare the governorate’s new capital, which has begun the trial operation of its facilities. The new capital, located north of the city of Kharga, is funded independently from the state’s general budget and includes all governmental and public sector facilities in the governorate. Establishing it aimed at enhancing the efficiency of public and investment services to strengthen the governorate’s development capacity.
Sisi ordered intensifying work on the developmental projects presented during the meeting, and emphasized the need for the completion of projects in New Valley, particularly the new capital in preparation for its opening.
He stressed the importance of aligning these projects with government efforts to achieve comprehensive economic development across various fields, contributing to improved living standards and facilitating citizens’ lives.
