President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi on Friday received the Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani to discuss regional issues such as the war in Gaza.
The official spokesperson for the Egyptian Presidency, Ahmed Fahmy, stated that the president held a session of discussions with Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad, which discussed the Israeli military escalation in the Gaza Strip, which threatens to push the region into dangerous and unaccounted directions.
Both leaders touched on the best ways to protect innocent civilians in Gaza and stop the bloodshed. They reviewed the intensive efforts aimed at achieving a ceasefire and sustaining the delivery of humanitarian aid.
They also rejected any attempts to liquidate the Palestinian cause at the expense of the Palestinian people or the countries of the region.
Fahmy said that the meeting included praise regarding the continued development in bilateral relations between both countries.
The two leaders agreed to continue activating cooperation frameworks and develop coordination at all levels.
The spokesperson concluded his statements by noting that the both sides confirmed the continuation of consultations in an effort to stop the current escalation and reduce the suffering of civilians, with the ultimate goal to establish an independent state in accordance with the terms of reference of international legitimacy.
