Sisi meets AU officials after Egypt suspended

Defense Minister Abdel Fattah al-Sisi met Tuesday with a high-level African Union delegation, as Egyptian officials look to iron out disagreements with the international community following the overthrow of President Mohamed Morsy earlier this month.

The delegation, tasked by the African Union (AU) to review political developments in Egypt, would consider an earlier decision to suspend Egypt's membership at the AU.

The delegation is headed by former AU and Malian president, Alpha Oumar Konare.

Meetings, attended by army chief-of-staff Sedqy Sobhy, reportedly discussed the political transition to democracy in Egypt, as well as issues related to Egypt's membership at the AU.

AU officials suspended Egypt following the removal of Morsy by the armed forces on 3 July.
