A source close to the presidency said that President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi is visiting Ismailia on Tuesday to inaugurate a number of development projects and announce in a press conference the winning conglomerate that would implement the Suez Canal Development Project.
He is expected to be joined by Defense Minister Sidqi Subhi, Interior Minister Mohamed Ibrahim and Suez Canal Authority Chairman Mohab Mamish.
The source added that the presidency invited all public and private media to attend the conference.
The project, which is the largest under the auspices of President Sisi, was first launched by deposed President Mohamed Morsy, but came under severe media criticism amid claims that Morsy intended to assign it to Qatar, his biggest ally.
It includes the development of ports, tourist resorts and land reclamation.
The Suez Canal is a main source of national income and a central port for world trade.
