Sisi emphasizes importance of fully implementing ceasefire agreement in Gaza

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi on Monday called for the full implementation of the Sharm El-Sheikh Agreement to end the war in the Gaza Strip, maintain the ceasefire, and ensure the unfettered delivery of sufficient humanitarian aid.

This came during Sisi’s meeting with Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, Sergei Shoigu; the Deputy Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, Alexander Venediktov; Russian Ambassador to Egypt, Georgiy Borisenk; and Deputy Director of Russia’s Foreign Intelligence Service, Sergey Mikheev.

The meeting tackled a multitude of regional and international issues.

President Sisi underscored the vital need to further strengthen all efforts toward achieving stability within the Middle East and preserve their unity, sovereignty, and the resources of their peoples.

During the meeting, it was agreed that the application of the Two-State Solution and the establishment of a Palestinian State, in accordance with the references of international legitimacy, are the only viable path to achieving a just and lasting peace and stability in the region.

The talks also touched on the project for establishing the Russian Industrial Zone in the Suez Canal Economic Zone and El Dabaa Nuclear Power Plant project, in addition to other dossiers.

President al-Sisi also stressed the necessity to boost economic and investment cooperation, to work toward increasing the volume of trade, and to enhance collaboration in the tourism sector.

Egyptian delegation to visit Gaza

Al-Masry Al-Youm learned from informed sources that arrangements are underway for a high-level Egyptian delegation to visit Gaza.

The sources said the delegation will meet with several factions in the Gaza Strip.

The meeting aims to address Egypt’s proposal for the aftermath of the war and securing the exit of brigade members trapped inside the Rafah tunnels.

Cairo is also holding intensive consultations with mediators to discuss arrangements for the second phase of the agreement, which includes the deployment of a multinational force that will gradually assume responsibility for security in Gaza.

This comes amid efforts to solidify the ceasefire and prevent its collapse in light of escalating field and political tensions.

Netanyahu in the US

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu also met on Monday US Special Envoy for the Middle East Steve Witkoff and Trump’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner, in Tel Aviv.

The talks focused on the issue of Hamas fighters trapped in the tunnels and moving forward with the implementation of Gaza agreement – at a time when Israel has shown no intention of allowing the trapped fighters to leave – according to the Israeli Broadcasting Corporation.

Informed sources told Arab media outlets that Netanyahu is seeking American guarantees granting him freedom of action in Gaza when needed, with these understandings to be included in the text of the anticipated UN resolution on the future of Gaza.

The Israeli newspaper Yediot Aharonot also revealed that Turkey is working to secure a safe passage for approximately 200 Hamas members trapped in tunnels, as part of a temporary humanitarian agreement being discussed with Washington and Cairo.
