President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi on Saturday said the Egyptian state is exerting tremendous efforts towards calming down the ongoing fighting in the Gaza Strip and delivering the largest possible amounts of assistance needed.
“Our policy is not based on disloyalty and conspiracy. We are not driven by interests, yet our goal is building and construction,” president Sisi said while addressing the opening of the second edition of the annual International Manufacturing Convention & Exhibition (IMCE) in El Manara International Conference Center in New Cairo.
“The Egyptian state, thanks to its people and army, is capable of protecting itself utterly. I’m reassuring you that nobody can harm Egypt.”
The President revealed the positive role of the Egyptian state in the file of releasing detainees in the Gaza Strip.
He thanked all countries that sent humanitarian aid to Gaza, saying “We are exerting huge efforts in order to meet the needs of 2.3 million Palestinians besieged in the Gaza Strip without water, fuel and necessary medical supplies.
“The entry of 20 trucks daily is not sufficient, yet we need further aid to be delivered to the Gaza Strip.”
The President asserted the Egyptian state’s keenness on having a key positive role in the Palestinian issue.
“All state officials – throughout the past years – have been keen on playing a positive role within the context of awareness that stability is crucial for the region as well as the state,” president Sisi said, adding that the state is now exerting huge effort to achieve stability.
The President welcomed the Arab-led resolution which was adopted by the UN General Assembly on Friday to immediately halt violence in Gaza.
“The drones that entered the Egyptian territory had been intercepted and downed,” the president said, adding: “I have warned before that the expansion of the conflict is against the interest of the region and will turn it into a time bomb that will harm all of us”.
He added that Egypt is a strong and sovereign state and urged everyone to respect its sovereignty and status.
“The Egyptian state, thanks to its people, youth and army, is capable of providing full security. I’m reassuring you that that we are exerting huge efforts to calm down the ongoing fighting in the Gaza Strip,” the president said.
The President highlighted the remarkable efforts made to deliver humanitarian assistance to the Gaza Strip, expressing gratitude and appreciation to all countries that sent aid to Gazans.
