President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi arrived in Seoul, South Korea, on Wednesday at the start of a three-day visit to enhance bilateral cooperation and promote investment.
The trip to Korea is a continuation of Sisi's tour of Asia, which started in Kazakhstan, then moved to Japan.
Members of the Egyptian community in Seoul received Sisi carrying flowers, after which the president was due to talk with members of the press.
Sisi will attend a summit with South Korean President Park Geun-hye for discussions on enhancing bilateral cooparation and promoting Korean business investment in Egypt. There will be particular focus on Egypt's new national projects, such as the Suez Canal Area Development Project.
The two presidents will sign a number of agreements and memorandums of understanding on energy, transport and technology.
The summit will also address political and security issues in the Middle East and East Asia, as well as co-operation on counter-terrorism efforts.
