Sisi assures that Egypt will continue its efforts to uphold ceasefire in Gaza

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi affirmed that his country is working with all parties to uphold the ceasefire agreement within the Gaza Strip, as recently adopted in the relevant UN Security Council resolution.

During his meeting with Algerian Prime Minister Sifi Gharib, Sisi stressed the importance of maintaining the ceasefire, preventing and halting any violations of the agreement, and enhancing the flow of humanitarian aid.

He also emphasized the importance of preparing for the reconstruction of the strip, noting Egypt’s intention to host an international conference on early recovery and reconstruction in Gaza.

Sisi commended the convening of the ninth session of the Egyptian-Algerian Joint Higher Committee in Cairo, stressing the need to build upon its outcomes to accelerate economic, trade, and investment cooperation between both countries.

He expressed his appreciation for the positive role played by Algeria during its non-permanent membership in the Security Council in defending Arab causes, foremost among them the Palestinian cause, praising Algeria’s historic stance in support of the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people.

Gharib expressed Algeria’s desire to continue working with Egypt to build upon the agreements reached between both leaders during the Algerian president’s visit to Egypt in October 2024, in order to strengthen bilateral cooperation between the two countries.

He also congratulated Egypt on the opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum and the appointment of Khaled al-Enany as Director-General of UNESCO.
