Sisi, Alimi say Yemen’s security linked to security of Egypt, Red Sea

CAIRO, March 4 (MENA) – President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and Chairman of the Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council Dr. Rashad Al-Alimi on Tuesday stressed Egypt’s steadfast support for the unity, independence and territorial integrity of Yemen.

This came as part of Sisi’s meeting with Alimi on the sidelines of the extraordinary Arab Summit held in the New Administrative Capital on Tuesday.

The Egyptian leader and the chairman of the Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council emphasized that the security and stability of Yemen are closely linked to the Egyptian national security, the security of the Arab region and that of the Red Sea as well.

Sisi said Egypt supports all efforts aimed at reaching a political solution to the Yemeni crisis in a way that meets the aspirations of the brotherly Yemeni people and ends their humanitarian suffering.

Egypt firmly believes that the Yemeni crisis will not be resolved by the use of force, but the focus should instead be on achieving peaceful political settlement that leads to a comprehensive and lasting solution, the president added.

Meanwhile, the chairman of the Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council expressed thanks to President Sisi and Egypt for their efforts to restore stability in Yemen and support the Yemeni people.

He also praised Egypt’s hosting of thousands of Yemenis who receive good treatment from Egyptians, which he said reflects the strength of historical relations between both countries’ peoples.
