Shoukry: Slovenia’s stances regarding Palestinian cause in line with int’l humanitarian law

Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry on Sunday praised Slovenia’s stances towards issues in the Arab region, especially the Palestinian cause, which align with the principles of international humanitarian law.

Shoukry said, in a joint press conference with the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Affairs of Slovenia Tanja Fajon in Cairo, that Slovenia has taken strong positions regarding the Israeli war on Gaza consistent with the principles of international humanitarian law. It was one of the countries that early demanded a cessation of hostilities and the necessity of taking measures to protect civilians, ensure the entry of aid, and reject the issue of displacement of the Palestinian people, the minister added.

He added that these positions were taken both within the framework of the European Union and within Slovenia’s membership in the Security Council, where it voted in favor of General Assembly resolutions and recently voted in favor of accepting Palestine as a full member of the United Nations.
