Sharm al-Sheikh hosts first round of free trade talks between Egypt and Russia

Minister of Industry, Trade and Small and Medium Enterprises Mounir Fakhry Abdel Nour has said the first round of free trade talks between Egypt and the Eurasian Customs Union, which includes Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan, is taking place in Sharm al-Sheikh by the end of October.

"Trade between Egypt and Russia amounted to US$3 billion in 2013,"  Abdel Nour said in earlier statements.

Egyptian exports to Russia were increased by 27.6 percent to $454 million from January to June 2014 compared to $355.8 million during the same period in 2013.

Last week, Abdel Nour said his ministry would sign a private trade agreement with Russia by mid-September.

"The agreement includes terms and conditions that obligate the two parties to ensure the entry of Egyptian exports of agricultural products and food industries to the Russian market," he said.
