Nozha Misdemeanors Court sentenced shaabi singer Poussy to nine years in prison on charges of issuing checks for her divorcee without having a bank balance, Al-Watan newspaper’s website reported on Wednesday.
Poussy’s former husband had filed 11 lawsuits against her over the fake checks.
A judicial source said the court punished the defendant with prison sentences ranging between six months to one year in the 11 cases with a total sentences of nine years.
The source added that the defendant has the right to appeal against the sentences, before a higher court, which might result in upholding, reducing or suspending them.
