Seven persons were taken to hospital due to smoke inhalation early on Thursday after an apartment caught fire in the Omraneya neighborhood in Giza.
Residents raised the alarm after one apartment caught fire, with three fire engines dispatched to the scene, sources told Al-Masry Al-Youm. Fire fighters tackled the blaze and were able to extinguish it.
The residents of the apartment buildilng were evacuated without loss of life.
However, seven people are reported to have suffered from smoke inhalation and were taken to a nearby hospital, which is located in the same street as the burning building.
Investigations are ongoing to identify the cause of the fire.
