Senusret I gate to be moved to Grand Egyptian Museum

Antiquities Minister Mamdouh al-Damaty and the council of the Grand Egyptian Museum have agreed to move the Senusret I gate, currently displayed at the Egyptian Museum, to the new Grand Egyptian Museum in Giza.

“We will place it in a proper display space, commensurate with its great archaeological and historical value, with the use of the latest, internationally recognized display techniques,” al-Damaty said.

He also said that the council discussed the possibility of holding an exhibition in Japan, involving a number of artifacts that have been restored in collaboration with Japanese scientists, pointing out that exhibitions abroad are a good way to promote tourism.

The Grand Egyptian Museum project supervisor, Tarek Tawfik said that the project accomplishments of the last six months are more than the tasks laid down by the Japan International Cooperation Agency.
