Security measures stepped up for Egypt’s 2025 Senate vote

The Interior Ministry has deployed comprehensive security measures across all governorates to safeguard the 2025 Senate elections, a senior security official said on Monday, August 4th, 2025.

Police forces were stationed around polling centers nationwide from early morning in coordination with relevant authorities to ensure a secure and smooth voting process, the official told the Middle East News Agency (MENA).

Senior security leaders are conducting field inspections of polling stations throughout the day to monitor the implementation of the security plan and assess the readiness of deployed personnel. Officers have been directed to show special consideration to elderly voters and those with disabilities, following instructions from Interior Minister Mahmoud Tawfik.

The ministry previously announced it had finalized its nationwide security preparations, which include heightened alert levels, expanded police presence, rapid response teams, and female officers for immediate intervention if needed.

Traffic units equipped with modern logistical tools have been deployed to manage road safety and ease access to polling sites. Operations rooms in all governorates are functioning 24/7 to handle reports and coordinate response efforts.

The ministry reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining public order and urged citizens to cooperate with police to ensure the elections proceed peacefully.
