Senior judicial sources from Giza prosecution said that the national security agency was able to identify the perpetrators responsible for the bomb explosion in Lebanon Square that killed Major Mohamed Gamal Eddin Maamoun of the Giza traffic department on Friday.
Investigations of suspect Ahmed Yasser Mohamed, involved in recent blasts at Cairo University and al-Galaa bridge, revealed the physical features of terrorist cell members who were allegedly the same persons at the Lebanon Square blast according to witnesses.
Interrogations also found that the perpetrators are members of the same cell responsible for bomb explosions in front of a security check point at Cairo University that killed Brigadier Tareq al-Margawy, head of West Giza investigations department.
Security service investigations discovered that persons on board a microbus distracted Major Maamoun until two assailants on a motorbike planted the bombs.
During the investigations, Mohamed allegedly revealed the methods used to carry out assassinations either late at night, early in the morning or at rush hours. The assailants are believed to have attempted the assassination of Maamoun at 10 pm during increased traffic congestion due to police cracking down on drivers violating traffic regulations on the 26 July corridor and confiscating their licenses.
Security services also raided apartments at Bulaq al-Dakrour which were rented by the wanted suspects. However, the suspects were able to escape before the raids and relocate, according to sources. Security services will allegedly also raid Talbiya, Omraneya, Kerdasa and others areas in Qalyubia believed to be where the suspects produced the bombs used in the attacks.
