Security forces shoot two illegal migrants

Egyptian border security shot at 13 African migrants attempting to enter Israel Thursday, injuring two.

Security sources said police detected the migrants 20 km north of Taba port. Security forces warned them to stop and fired when some continued on, a security official said.

The official reported the two injured men are Eritreans ages 38 and 19, and that their condition is not serious.

The other 11 migrants – four Ethiopians and seven Eritreans – have been arrested and referred to investigative authorities. The undocumented migrants said they planned to enter Israel to seek asylum and work, the source said.
