The Interior Ministry’s public security sector launched a security campaign across the country to arrest suspects who escaped justice over thuggery and vehicle theft charges.
The campaign’s efforts resulted in the issuing of 7,079 judicial rulings, the ministry said. Six people who had four stolen cars in their possession were arrested, and 15 other stolen cars were found, state-run news agency MENA reported.
One prisoner who escaped from jail during the 25 January revolution was also arrested.
Some people in Egypt worry about a decline in the nation’s security since the revolution last year, saying there has been increased theft and violence.
