The Civil Protection Forces brought under control a fire in the Ghouriya area of Cairo on Tuesday evening after it spread through a number of textiles shops.
According to initial investigations, a short-circuit in the electrics of a shop caused the fire, setting light to the textile stock before spreading into neighboring shops. Twelve fire engines were needed to extinguish the blaze.
The fire caused no casualties, a security source told MENA, adding that the Civil Protection Forces thoroughly extinguished the embers to ensure the fire would not restart itself on the site.
Health Ministry Spokesperson, Khaled Megahed, along with an Interior Ministry Information Center spokesperson confirmed that there were no victims from the incident.
The security official added that legal measures were taken regarding the incident.
