Security foil smuggling attempt at western border

Security patrols on Egypt's western borders on Monday foiled an attempt to smuggle large quantities of narcotics and ammunition near the Salloum crossing from Libya.

Security forces exchanged fire with the smugglers, who escaped, leaving behind 53 sacks filled with 2,230,000 Tramadol pills, various weapons and more than 100,000 bullets, all of which were seized.

The prosecution will begin investigations into the incident.
