The security forces tried to control sporadic fires in Nasr City and Heliopolis during clashes between them and pro-Muslim Brotherhood protesters Friday.
Protesters set fire to tires, dozens of trees, and kiosks during clashes near Rabaa al-Adaweya Square, according to Major General Mamdouh Abdel Qader, director of the Civil Protection in Cairo.
Dozens of trucks attepmted to put out the fire, he said.
Abdel Qader said he was not notified whether there were victims.
