Security concerns underlie Mubarak’s stay in Sharm el-Sheikh

Security sources said deposed President Hosni Mubarak has not been moved from the Sharm el-Sheikh International Hospital to a military hospital in Cairo because plans to secure his transfer have not yet been agreed to.

They also said that the initial plan was to move Mubarak at night in a car to Sharm el-Sheikh Airport in order to secure him against possible assaults, and that the hospital’s airport was excluded as an option because it is surrounded by high buildings.
