Cairo security services stopped 59 Africans migrants from trying to enter Israel Monday, police said.
The group included Eritrean, Ethiopian and Sudanese nationals who were on the Cairo-Suez road when police intercepted them.
Police said four Sudanese nationals had facilitated the group’s travel from Sudan to Cairo and were planning to sneak them into Israel inside a hidden container on an unregistered truck.
The group was discovered after the container broke and the truck left them on the roadside.
Cairo Security Chief Major General Mohsen Mourad referred the report to prosecutors to begin investigations. The migrants are to be detained for four days pending investigations.
