Luxor International Hospital officials announced the second death resulting from the H1N1 virus, known as the swine flu, in Luxor on Sunday.
The hospital announced that 55-year-old Mohamed Abdel Fattah from Esna Village, south of Luxor, has died of swine flu after being treated at the intensive care unit for one week.
The patient suffered from chronic diseases, including the cirrhosis of the liver, kidney failure, high blood pressure and diabetes, which caused the deterioration of his condition and eventually his death, according to doctor Mohamed Abu Esara who works at Luxor International Hospital.
Abu Esara said that all cases suspected of the virus have left the hospital.
The Luxor Health Directorate announced a state of emergency in hospitals after a 22-year old pregnant woman died of swine flu.
The swine flu death toll has reached 52 since December, the Health Ministry announced.
