The NEOM city in Saudi Arabia on Sunday unveiled the Leyja project, its latest tourism destination, which will include three hotels and luxury facilities within a natural oasis nestled between valleys and mountains, its board of directors announced in a statement.
Leyja starts from the Gulf of Aqaba coast and its alluring waters in the west, then winds inland into a natural valley carved between mountains.
“The project builds on NEOM’s ongoing commitment to becoming a multi-faceted destination and supports the Kingdom’s efforts to build a strong and sustainable tourism industry under Saudi Vision 2030,” the statement reads.
“Aligned with NEOM’s strategy to designate the majority of its land across its destinations and cities as a nature reserve, 95 percent of Leyja will be preserved for nature and will combine innovative, ecological design and construction techniques to ensure the development seamlessly blends into the landscape,” it added.
One of the most prominent features of the project are its three hotels, featuring world-class sustainable designs that guarantee a tourist experience like nowhere else.
“The three properties will offer 120 elegant boutique rooms and suites, split equally with 40 keys at each,” according to the official statement.
The first of these hotels is geared towards adventurous spirits. It blends into the surrounding topography like a staircase, designed to carefully preserve the area’s natural beauty.
Its unique location near the cliff tops will delight rock climbers and those seeking thrilling new heights.
The second, located at the heart of the oasis, serves as a gateway to the wonders of the valley and beyond.
“The impressive staircase ascending from the canyon to the entrance of the property is a journey of discovery, offering unrivaled views of the valley in all its beauty,” the statement reads.
And lastly, the final property is a wellness retreat featuring that promises a “unique and interactive experience”, thanks to its state-of-the-art facade that reflects the surrounding natural valleys.
Leyja also offers rooftop infinity-styled pools and wellness facilities across the three properties, alongside guided walks, mountain biking and climbing services that allow tourists to get up close and personal with the valley’s natural beauty.
“Once developed, Leyja will offer an extensive selection of refined experiences and activities, including fine dining and contemporary restaurants presented by world-renowned chefs,” the statement added.
