Saudi Arabia will participate in the Miss Universe 2024 pageant for the first time in the history of the competition, as announced by Saudi beauty queen Rumy Alqahtani on Monday.
Alqahtani, an influential content creator and model, revealed her readiness to represent her country in one of the most prestigious beauty pageants in the world.
In a post on Instagram, 27-year-old Alqahtani expressed her pride at being selected to compete in the Miss Universe 2024 pageant.
She wrote: ‘It is an honor to participate in the Miss Universe 2024 pageant. This is the first participation of Saudi Arabia in the Miss Universe pageant.’
The Khaleej Times reported that Alqahtani previously participated in several international competitions, including the recently held Miss Asia World Queen and Mrs. Asia World pageant in Malaysia.
British newspaper “The Independent” reported that: “Besides being crowned Miss Saudi Arabia, Alqahtani also holds titles of Miss Middle East (Saudi Arabia), Miss Arab World Peace 2021, and Miss Woman (Saudi Arabia). She has represented Saudi Arabia previously in multiple international pageants, including Miss Asia in Malaysia, Miss Arab Peace, and Miss Europe,” it wrote.
The 2024 Miss Universe pageant is set to be held on September 24 in Mexico.
