Saudi Arabia executes Egyptian man: Ministry unveils crime details

The Saudi Ministry of Interior issued a statement on Thursday announcing the execution of an Egyptian citizen, revealing the details of his crime, according to Saudi Press Agency.

The ministry stated in its statement: “Hussein Sayed Ahmed Abdel Baqi, an Egyptian national, attempted to smuggle amphetamine tablets into the Kingdom. Thanks to God, the security authorities were able to apprehend the aforementioned criminal. Upon investigation, he was charged with committing the crime. He was referred to the competent court, which issued a verdict proving the charges against him and sentencing him to death. The verdict became final after being appealed and upheld by the Supreme Court. A royal decree was issued to enforce the legally determined penalty.”

The ministry added in its statement, “The death sentence against the criminal, Hussein Sayed Ahmed Abdel Baqi, an Egyptian national, was carried out on Thursday, 2 Rajab 1446 Hijri, corresponding to January 2, 2025, in the Tabuk region.”

The statement concluded, “The Ministry of Interior announces this to affirm to all that the government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is keen to protect the security of citizens and residents from the scourge of drugs, and to impose the harshest penalties stipulated by the law on traffickers and dealers, due to the harm they cause by taking innocent lives and causing severe corruption among the youth, individuals, and society, and violating their rights. At the same time, it warns all those who attempt such acts that the legal punishment will be their fate. And God guides to the straight path.”
