French police have been told to await the arrival of Tunisian President Zine al-Abedine Ben Ali at an airport near Paris late on Friday, a police source said. However a more recent report says that French President Nicholas Sarkozy declined to received the ousted president.
The president who just quit the country after days of rioting was said to have flown over Malta, but the Maltese Foreign Ministry confirmed that it received no requests from him to stay.
The current location of the ousted president remains unknown.
