Yasser Borhamy, vice president of the Salafi Daawa, said that all members of his group have unanimously agreed to vote for the constitution and encourage citizens to participate in the January referendum.
At a lecture on Thursday, Borhamy argued the Salafi Daawa is better than the Muslim Brotherhood. “We have credibility in the street,” he said. He also warned that the MB will try to disrupt the referendum.
Borhamy also warned of four possible scenarios in case the constitution is rejected. “Foreign intervention, division of the armed forces, economic collapse where people would fight for a loaf of bread not diesel fuel, and civil war,” he said.
“We did not get everything we wanted in the draft constitution, but we got most of it,” he said. “We need to stop bleeding first before we can run a marathon.”
