Salafi Front spokesperson Khaled Saeed said Wednesday the Islamist coalition is planning a million-man demonstration from 21 June, leading up to 30 June opposition protests against President Mohamed Morsy's leadership.
The Islamist rally will continue until after 30 June outside the Rabaa al-Adaweya Mosque in Nasr City, Saeed claimed, while governorates across Egypt will witness similar demonstrations.
“The whole world will watch us thwart attempts to storm the presidential palace and hijack legitimacy,” he said, adding that the coalition had not agreed to send its supporters to Tahrir Square or the Ettehadiya presidential palace.
Salafis have formed popular committees to protect the Rabaa al-Adaweya Mosque, Saeed added.
“Our response will be fierce,” he said, pointing to what he called secularists and Copts allegedly assaulting veiled women in the streets.
