Sabbahi says will not meet Israeli ambassador, if president

Popular Current Chief Hamdeen Sabbahi said he will not receive the Israeli ambassador to approve his credentials, if he became president.

“I’m not saying I will sever ties, but I’m not forced to meet him personally,” he said

In an interview with the Jordanian TV on Sunday, Sabbahi said, “If I became president, you will not find a photo of me in the institutions. You will find a photo of the people at Tahrir Square.”

“My mission is to increase my popularity. I seek getting votes of majority of Egyptians when they cast their ballots,” he said adding that he thinks “the Muslim Brotherhood will field a candidate or support a candidate. That candidate will not be me or Field Marshal Abdel Fattah al-Sisi [defense minister]. That candidate will fail,” he said.

“We are in need of independent media that has real freedom and sticks to media honor code. Neither media or state institutions were on my side at any of the previous elections that I stood for,” he added.

“There should be interim justice. Whoever attacked Egyptians should be held accountable. All Egyptians should be compensated. Egypt needs every Arab person as much as every Arab person needs Egypt,” Sabbahi said.

“Qatar is a small country that plays greater role through money. We want it to return back to its Arab nation and apologize for offending Egypt,” he said.

Sabbahi came in the third place during 2012 presidential elections, which brought former President Mohamed Morsy to power. He announced that he will run for the coming elections last month.
