Former presidential hopeful Hamdeen Sabbahi will meet on Tuesday with Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu, who is currently on an official visit to Egypt.
Sabbahi’s campaign said in a statement that Davutoglu asked to meet with Sabbahi to become better acquainted with his views concerning the current situation in the country.
Sabbahi was the dark horse of the presidential election, coming in third after the Muslim Brotherhood’s Mohamed Morsy and Ahmed Shafiq, Hosni Mubarak’s last prime minister.
The statement added that Sabbahi also plans to meet with a number of Nasserist organizations and individuals as part of his ongoing initiative to establish a popular political movement. The details of the initiative should be announced within days.
