Presidential candidate Hamdeen Sabbahi said on Tuesday that corruption is behind the poverty, unemployment and sickness that plagues the country.
“Tackling corruption is the first step in rebuilding this country,” he said, adding that his platform addresses this issue. “And I welcome any initiative or idea that contributes to it.”
Sabbahi welcomed an initiative launched by 46 human rights organizations calling on presidential candidates to include in their platforms methodological tools and mechanisms for the application of the United Nations Convention Against Corruption, as well as mechanisms to achieve economic development.
