Russian travel agencies expect the return of Russian tourism to Egypt before the summer, Russian news agency RIA Novosti reported on Wednesday.
Many Russian travel agencies expressed a desire to speed up the return of flights to Egypt, according to RIA.
Interfax news agency, Moskovskij Komsomolets newspaper and Kommersant newspaper quoted the director of the Association of Tour Operators Russia (ATOR), Maya Lomidze, as saying that Russian travel agencies are preparing for trips to Egypt in the upcoming season and that she expects Russian tourism to return to Egypt in the next three or four months.
Travel agencies will be offering discount packages to encourage Russians to visit Egypt, she mentioned.
The recent attack against three tourists in a Hurghada hotel, however, could further discourage Russian tourists from visiting Egyptian resorts, Lomidze added.
Russian agencies have already prepared contracts and agreements with their Egyptian counterparts following the suspension of flights to Sharm el-Sheikh, said Lomidze, adding that these contracts will be honored once the flights resume.
