Tourist police arrested two Russian tourists on Sunday in the Red Sea Governorate for possessing metal detecting equipment.
The police received a claim saying that both tourists, resideding in a hotel in Hurghada, possessed metal detecting equipment when they left the hotel for cruises.
The police inspected the room of both tourists after obtaining a permit from the prosecutor and seized the equipment.
Initial investigations showed the equipment, prohibited in Egypt, was smuggled and used to explore gold near the sea.
