Major Russian tourist companies are looking to resume trips to Egypt's Red Sea resorts, according to Maged al-Qady, adviser to the head of the Red Sea tourist chamber.
Meetings and consultations with Russian officials are currently underway, Qady added, saying that Russian tours to the area would resume on 20 September.
He added that this decision was reached after a delegation toured Hurghada for several days to assesss the security situation there. The travel ban imposed by Russian authorities on visits to Egypt will be completely lifted before the start of the winter season, Qady claimed.
Around 80 Russian tourist companies will resume charter flights to Egypt at the end of September.
The Russian Foreign Ministry imposed a travel ban to Egypt following the dispersal of the sit-ins in Rabaa al-Adaweya and al-Nahda Square. Egypt receives around 2.5 million Russian tourists a year.
