Representatives of independent candidate Mohamed Abdel Alim Dawood were denied access to the polling station at Fawa/Metoubas district in Kafr al-Sheikh Governorate today as parliamentary run-offs get underway, sources said.
The Administrative Court previously ordered the district’s elections halted due to other violations.
The run-off poll features Dawood, who went on a hunger strike protesting first round results, and independent Salah al-Maaddawi, a supporter of the NDP.
News reports say the district hosted security infringements against Dawood's supporters over the past few days. Sources close the the candidate point to an NDP-security coordinated plot to eliminate him in the run-off.
